It does seem vague doens't it when we try to look at the Asian culture and then question why is it alright when western people do it. I remember one friend, an American, of mine was wishing me off after i sent him back and he gave me a peck on both cheeks. On one hand felt awkward cause i don't get that with asian dudes. The first thing he said was "Oh yeah I forgot different country.." Lol... it was quite funny. But i'm open with a kiss on the cheek. ^_^

Don't think i'd be crazy about it though if my bf, kissed a girl friend of his on her cheek... Hmm hypocrisy much? Depends on situations and context eh?

Hey Ping Ping spot on. Thing about the whole touchy topic between the genders is that obviously opposites attract. Where's the line drawn when we touch one another.

... I find it hard to differentiate between a friendly hug and a best friend hug. It's even worse when you know the two friends, have a thing for one another when they shouldn't be. Then things get a bit fishy, like why are you hugging her....but could work for two singles. Boundaries people. :)

Heya Albert, lol, no surprise for a guy wanting a girl to lean on their shoulder. But true, the two people should now what they are doing, hence whatever it is they are still allowing room for respect to the other. That's the whole reason why there is no extreme touchy touchy right? :P To give some sort of difference between the bf and normal guy friends.

In western point of view , is a way to respect and connect with people. Even when i come to australia , in movie and drama it seem normal for people to hug each other when they see each other.

So once i come to australia , i admit that i dont have much western friend , but if i see some of my friend hugging mean nothing. It mean a hello.or something.
But if you say , holding hand. I have a friend , she had this good guy friend and they were like holding hand when they went for shopping. So i asked my friend are you guys couple . She say no , i just treat him like little brother. But the guy is exactly the same height and look older. How can just brother....because they guy seem to enjoyed it and potray as a boyfriend and girlfriend relationship but the girl seem to have a different view
of this situation.

I would say , it always depend on what situation and if you know what does it mean and is clear about it it would be a different result that you potray in your mind.

Hugging is okay , leaning is okay .
but somehow , holding hand it depend on people.
Thus ,i believe that different people had different thought.

I agree with the asian culture but once u blend the asian and western together ...it seem vague. hehe ..sorry for the long comment .haha

The 3rd picture can be just among friends. I am sure many girls do it among themselves as well when they are really tired right? (IE leaning on another friends shoulders).

Ultimately, I do think that one can differentiate a friendly hug and something more intimate based on body language. Of course this is mainly among really close friends. I don't mind hugging or even kissing the cheeks of my close friends but i would not do that on someone I just met.

Erm... I think... if the boy and girl are totally OK, feeling good and safe, without hurting each other, and also with respect, I certainly don't see a problem. By all means go for it. Be it holding hands, hugging and so on...

But please not so over-touchy la. I think this could offend the girls.

But have to say traditional Asian culture (particularly here in Malaysia) consider it a taboo. That depends on what they think la.

Even me would really love to have a girl leaning on my shoulder... no offense... :D

don't worry about the long comment hehe, I enjoy hearing other peoples thoughts. I'm also open with hugging people, cause it's the easiest way to open up and show friendliness to another, but depends who I'm hugging of course.

You think so? Yeah I know some friends like to lean on one another, but doesn't it sometimes feel a bit odd? I mean call me old fashion, but I like leaning / snuggling to my partner... not snuggle leaning on my friend.

to me lar... the 1st 2 pics shows like they are couples and the last 2 pics are just fine for me as in they are jz friends... sometimes i have GIRL-frens leaning on me too as well as i leaning on their shoulders.. saje/really tired.. and we're quite close thats it.. haha
