  • I agree that Aragorn is the MAN. But I reckon that Gandalf is the WIZARD, Legolas is the ELF while Sam is the HOBBIT! :>

But, yeah, the books are fantastic. The bit describing the charge of Rohan in 'The Return of the King' stands as the most fantastic bit of writing I've ever read.

If you want more, I suggest you pick up 'The Silmarillion'. You won't regret it. You'll spend a lot of time reading it, but you won't regret it.
  • Hhehehe.. ok if you want to get technical fine... there are differences but in terms of actors they are all men in the end ^_~.

You shoudl check out the commentary of the movies, they are hilarious and you actually appreciate visual ethnography and the whole point of it ^_^.
  • i was reading Romance of the Three Kingdoms when i watched the Trilogy. hehehehe...I can imagine Guan Yu being Aragon :)

  • Alamak! Integration of cross-sultural or rather cross-kingdom characters.

Let Aragorn be Aragorn and Guan Yu be Guan Yu!:)

I don't think I will ever be able to pick up Silmarillon, though it is very fascinating how the concept of a Creator God is entertwined in fantasy and reality. What a bag of goodies!
